1. Who we are

This website (contilines.be) is operated by Conti-Lines Group NV and its group companies, including Conti-Lines NV, Conti-Lines Coastal NV, Conti-Lines Shipping NV and Conti-Invest NV (together, “Conti-Lines”, “we”, “us”), with registered office at Sneeuwbeslaan 14, 2610 Wilrijk, Belgium. Our offices in London (Conti-Carwil Ltd) and Hong Kong (Conti-Lines Hong Kong) may also process personal data

2. What personal data we collect, and why

a. Enquiries sent to one of our offices
When you contact us by email (e.g. info@, cargo@ or chartering@contilines.be) or by phone, we process the personal data you provide us — such as your name, email address, phone number, company name and the content of your message — in order to answer your enquiry and, where relevant, to prepare or perform a commercial agreement. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and, where applicable, the steps necessary to enter into a contract with you.

b. Job applications
If you apply for a vacancy by sending your CV and motivation letter by email, we process the personal data contained in these documents (such as your name, contact details, education and work experience) in order to assess your application. The legal basis is the taking of pre-contractual steps at your request. We keep unsolicited applications and applications for closed vacancies for a maximum of 12 months,
unless agreed otherwise or you ask us to keep your file for consideration for future vacancies, in which case we ask for your explicit consent to a longer retention period.

c. Website usage data (cookies and similar technologies)

When you visit our website, certain technical and, where you have given your consent, non-essential data may be collected through cookies and similar technologies (including cookies placed by embedded content such as Google Maps and Vimeo). Please see our separate Cookie Policy for full details.

3. How long we keep your data

We do not keep personal data longer than necessary for the purposes described above. General commercial correspondence is kept for the duration of the business relationship and afterwards only as long as required by law (e.g. accounting or commercial legislation). Job application data is kept as described in section 2.b.

4. Who we share your data with

We only share personal data with third parties where necessary, such as: IT service providers who host or maintain our website on our behalf (including our hosting provider); Google, when you interact with the Google Maps component on our Contact page; Vimeo, when you view the video on our About page; and our own group companies and offices (Belgium, United Kingdom, Hong Kong) where relevant to handle your enquiry.

5. International transfers

Personal data is in principle processed within the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (which benefits from an EU adequacy decision). Where personal data would be transferred to our Hong Kong office or to another service provider located outside the EEA without an adequacy decision, we put in place appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to: access your personal data; request rectification or erasure; request restriction of processing; object to processing based on our legitimate interest; request data portability; and withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent, without affecting
